Bring approximately 8 cups (2 quarts/64 oz) of fresh water to a rolling boil, and pour this into the stainless steel bowl. Cover with a plate or lid, allowing the herbs to steep for 10 minutes.
Uncover the bowl, removing the sachet and setting aside. The herbs can be placed in the refrigerator and used for a second steep later, similar to loose tea.
Pelvic Steaming User Guide
Check the steam temperature near the seat of the sauna or toilet. If the steam does not feel too warm, remove clothing below the waist and have a seat. You may wish to cover with a towel, blanket or bathrobe during the session to keep the steam from escaping too quickly.
(Bear in mind that within the first few minutes, the steam will build up and you may need to change positions or stand up briefly if the temperature begins to feel too warm.)
Plan to sit over the steam comfortably for 20-25 minutes. Sessions work best if they are completed at the end of your day, as many report becoming relaxed and sleepy afterwards. You may wish to meditate, read or catch up on your favorite television shows. Remember to stay hydrated, avoid drafts and dry off immediately following your session!
Once you have finished, carefully dispose of the water down the drain or toilet. (Optional: postpartum users and those with hemorrhoids may also wish to use the herbal infusion as a sitz bath following the steam session.)
Wash and sanitize the steaming bowl with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and set aside for your next session.
Please avoid steaming when any of the following apply:
Pregnancy
Menstruation
Spotting (red or pink blood only)
If you are currently experiencing a burning itch
When prone to 2 periods per month or continual heavy bleeding between periods
After any attempts to conceive, including intercourse, IUI or embryo transfer
