Lisa Mussak

Lisa practices Classical Chinese medicine, focusing on the treatment of infertility, menstrual cycle regulation, prenatal and postpartum support. She graduated with a Master of Science degree from MCOM in 2007 and completed an outpatient hospital internship in Beijing immediately thereafter. She has also completed multiple graduate level mentorships with Sharon Weizenbaum and the White Pine Institute, focusing on the use of advanced diagnosis and herbal prescribing techniques.

Lisa is one of four acupuncturists in the state to hold specialty board certification through the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine (ABORM), demonstrating clinical skills in the dual concepts of Eastern and Western medical care and treatment. As a lifelong student, she completes over 100 additional hours of professional education each year both to refine her clinical skill set and to study with the foremost herbalists in her specialty focus.

This additional training allows her to treat collaboratively for those undergoing Western fertility treatment, and to refer patients out for additional care when necessary. Lisa enjoys providing collaborative care, and always welcomes the opportunity to coordinate with other health care professionals throughout the course of a patient’s treatment.

Her approach to treatment consists mainly of acupuncture and Chinese herbal formulas, with additional interest and focus on the safe and effective use of herbal medicine during pregnancy and lactation. For those looking to conceive, her goal is not just pregnancy, birth and postpartum, but a healthy, empowered, and joyful one.

To that end, she spends a good deal of time providing additional resources throughout each stage of conception, pregnancy, and in the lead up to birth and postpartum. This preparation for the impending transitions of pregnancy into birth and parenthood feels especially overlooked in other healthcare settings and is one of the core elements of her care.

“When I was prepping to start IVF, my fertility clinic suggested acupuncture and referred me to Orchid. I started seeing Lisa once a week and continued through my egg retrieval, transfer and am now pregnant. I can’t imagine having gone through this without her. Beyond the physical benefits I felt from my sessions, Lisa was a huge support, educating me along the way and helping me with a lot of the stress and anxiety I was feeling.

Lisa truly listens and cares about what you’re going through. Appointments never feel rushed, the space is warm and inviting, and everyone you come into contact with is a pleasure to talk with. I would 100% recommend to anyone going through infertility.”
